Intrinsyc’s Open-Q™ Development Kits with Android Things™ Now Available for Pre-Order

Open-Q 212A 624A Development Kit SOM System On Module Android Things

Intrinsyc Technologies Corp. now offers two new development kits, the Open-Q™ 212A and Open-Q™ 624A, based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 212 (APQ8009) and 624 (APQ8053) processors.

As part of Qualcomm’s Home Hub platforms, these kits come complete with Open-Q™ 212A and Open-Q™ 624A Google-certified System-On-Modules (SoMs), development boards and reference designs to get you up and running quickly and easily.

These production-ready platforms are powered by Android Things, a subset of Google’s Android operating system (OS), with well-supported APIs and services aimed at Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

The Android Things Console provides a cloud-based platform for building factory or custom system images and managing software running on Android Things IoT devices.

The Open-Q™ 212A Development Kit, based on the Snapdragon 212 System-On-Chip (SoC), is suitable for smart devices that don’t require a display such as voice-controlled home hubs, smart assistants, or smart home speakers or for enabling smart home appliances such as refrigerators, dishwashers or toasters.

Open-Q™ 624A Development Kit

The Open-Q™ 624A Development Kit, based on the Snapdragon 624 SoC, supports a camera and LCD/touch display, and is available with more processing power to handle advanced tasks such as video processing and artificial intelligence (AI).  It is ideal for products that require video streaming or video conferencing such as smart displays, remote video cameras and smart thermostats.

Both kits provide advanced connectivity (Wi-Fi 802.11ac with 2×2 MU-MIMO, Bluetooth Low Energy 4.1) and are capable of supporting advanced audio features such as noise cancellation and voice recognition.

A microphone board with two digital microphones (DMICs) connected directly to the SoC, as well as a stereo speaker amplifier board (TI TAS5782M) supporting up to 96-kHz sampling rate through an I2S interface and driving 14W per channel into 4-ohm speakers are included with each development kit. The optional touch display and camera for the Open-Q™ 624A development kit are available for purchase separately.

By using hardware modules that are certified for production use and Google’s managed OS to provide secure managed software updates, these platforms are designed to help developers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) quickly go from prototype to production while reducing development costs.
