One Phone Screen Does Not Fit All
The convergence of wireless broadband and cellular networks is giving people new freedom to switch communications modes seamlessly as they move from home to office to retail. The problem is that phone screen themes – the graphics and applications at your fingertips – are static and unchanging. Your phone screen always looks the same, no matter where you are, or which network service you use.
Introducing UX-Zone
Now the appearance of a phone interface can change automatically with our UX-Zone software. UX-Zone changes a phone’s theme and displays relevant applications for the location and the services available, or even an event. This includes:
- Returning home and connecting to a femtocell
- Entering a WiFi zone
- Roaming to a different network provider
How UX-Zone Works
Femtocells are tiny mobile service access points that plug into broadband connections and combine excellent voice coverage indoors with very fast data services.
UX-Zone automatically switches screen themes to reflect the phone’s location. At home, the phone switches to the femtocell and a “Home” theme instantly appears with new icons for high bandwidth entertainment services like video streaming and social networking.
As the user leaves home, the interface returns to normal. On arrival at the office, an entirely new range of enterprise application icons appear on a new “Office” interface designed specifically for business productivity.
Partnering with the Femtocell Market Leader
UX-Zone incorporates femtocell presence triggers from the Ubiquisys FemtoApps initiative. Backed by Google and T-Mobile, Ubquisys is the largest supplier of femtocells. Their technology is resold by many other OEMs as well.
Android Version of UX Zone Available Now
The first version of UX-Zone supports Google Android-based feature phones and smartphones. Upcoming versions of UX-Zone will support other popular mobile phone operating systems.
New Opportunities for Operators
Intrinsyc can develop custom versions of UX-Zone that allow mobile operators to brand each experience. UX-Zone implementations can be operator-specific with over-the-air themes and applications. A network event, such as an operator-driven alert about a low Pay-As-You-Go credit, can also generate UX-Zone changes.
Intrinsyc makes it easy to integrate UX-Zone with your next handset design, and our expert engineers can implement UX-Zone to your exact specifications, accelerating your development schedule.
