Intrinsyc Software Announces Board Resignation
Demonstrations of Intrinsyc’s ARM IEM power management solution on the Freescale i.MX31 applications processor at booth #1054
Freescale Technology Forum, Orlando, Florida – July 26, 2006 – Intrinsyc Software International, Inc. (TSX:ICS) a mobility software and services company, today launches a Microsoft Windows CE-based processor-level power management solution using ARM® Intelligent Energy Manager (IEM)™ software for mobile devices based on Freescale Semiconductor’s i.MX31 multimedia applications processor. Intrinsyc’s solution improves mobile battery life talk-time, standby-time and multimedia experience by adding predictive power management capabilities to the Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling (DVFS) hardware mechanism of the i.MX31 processor. Demonstrations of Intrinsyc’s ARM power management solution for the i.MX31 applications processor are available throughout the Freescale Technology Forum (FTF) at Intrinsyc’s partner pod, #1054.
Intrinsyc’s mobile software solutions and development services span all steps of a mobile product development cycle – from reference designs, power management, board support packages and radio interface layers through to Soleus™, our turnkey feature phone software platform based on Windows CE. As the complexity of building mobile devices outstrips the evolution of battery technology, device manufacturers need new ways to reduce power consumption, while still allowing consumers to get the best performance from their mobile applications. By integrating ARM IEM software into Windows CE for use with Freescale’s i.MX31 processor, Intrinsyc’s solution can maximize the power-performance of gaming, digital video broadcasting and graphics entertainment devices.
“Freescale designed the i.MX31 high performance multimedia processors to deliver a rich and long lasting mobile entertainment experience,” said Berardino Baratta, general manager of the multimedia applications division, Freescale Semiconductor. “This is the first time that Windows CE-based mobile multimedia entertainment devices that are powered by Freescale technology can benefit from ARM’s Intelligent Energy Manager software.”
“The need for longer battery life is critical in advanced multimedia mobile devices, particularly given the highly integrated nature of many devices,” said Kevin McIntyre, product manager for IEM, ARM. “Many market-leading devices are built with Freescale’s high-performance i.MX31 multimedia processor, including the innovative Toshiba gigabeat® portable media player. Through its partnership with Intrinsyc, ARM will be able to deliver IEM technology to increase battery life by up to 25% for mobile entertainment devices on the Windows CE operating system.”
“Intrinsyc is delighted to be exhibiting today at the Freescale Technology Forum and demonstrating our new power management solution based on ARM IEM technology,” said David Manuel, EVP Customer Programs, Intrinsyc. “Through working with ARM and applying Intrinsyc’s specialised knowledge of embedded Windows processor design and software, we are offering a power management solution to further optimize the low power consumption of Freescale i.MX31-based mobile devices that run Windows CE. This is the first delivery of ARM IEM software for the i.MX31 processors and is further proof of Intrinsyc’s leadership in mobile and embedded software development.”
